Back to Home
Blood
My house is an apartment somewhere in the Backstreets. In most days, it's dark, cold, and more often than not, I'm outside attending to my office instead of staying in.
Those days where I am not inside are the ones where Daisy stays instead. Someone has to watch the house, so we take turns.
Today...Daisy came home drenched in blood.

Mn. Daisy.
Daisy
The Auburn Point
Hi, Vergie...
Seeing them after a long day at work was not unusual for me. I knew better than to question it, because there were far too many instances where I myself have had to clean up.
It was just rarer to see the same for them. I walked, and closed the door behind them.
Daisy
The Auburn Point
Sorry about the mess. There was a huge fight.
The first act that is usually done, when one of us sees the other in such a state...is to find a handkerchief and wipe the face. I keep one with me always for that reason.
Vergilius
The Red Gaze
It's okay.
Vergilius
The Red Gaze
You should—
Daisy
The Auburn Point
—Clean up. Yes, I know.
Daisy
The Auburn Point
You're quite predictable sometimes-!
They laughed. And when they did, I wanted them again. Between us, the routine always narrows down to several choices. Either we head to the bathroom, or we make dinner and mop later.
Both choices involve cleaning regardless, which is why I always suggest the former first. By now, Daisy had already picked it up. I try not to make comments afterwards, but...
Vergilius
The Red Gaze
I hope it was not difficult for you.
Daisy
The Auburn Point
Oh, it wasn't! Okay, so here's what happened.
...When I do say something, Daisy always finds the time to talk about their day, and that was something I looked forward to. Our small conversations and short moments mattered to me.
They could talk for hours to no end, while I could listen forever.
Which I never admit to their face.
Daisy
The Auburn Point
Vergie. Hey, Vergie! Are you even listening?
Vergilius
The Red Gaze
Of course.
Daisy
The Auburn Point
You don't have to lie, you know! As I was saying.
Daisy
The Auburn Point
Why don't you join me in the bath? Let's make it nice and warm.
The invitation to allow intimacy was one I would happily accept in a heartbeat. But I take my time, just so that I can absorb the silence in the air.
Vergilius
The Red Gaze
Mm. Okay.
And they smile, hugging me, staining my clothes as well. After a moment, we prepare everything accordingly.
Daisy coming home after a dreadful evening...was something I always looked forward to.
So that the two of us could have some time with each other even longer, before the next day comes and we're separated once again.
